Return to Avalon

An Adirondack Forest Retreat

WITH DEVON SWEENEY, DRAKE UNRUH, + MORGAN DOYLE | UPSTATE NEW YORK

OCTOBER 29-NOVEMBER 3

POTSDAM, NEW YORK

A retreat of renewal, recovery, and remembrance.

4 Days - 5 Nights | October 29-November 3, 2026

Samhain Retreat in the Adirondack Foothills

Potsdam, New York | St. Regis River | Fall 2026

Return to Avalon is a cozy fall retreat in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, created as a space to step away from the pace of everyday life and return to the rhythms of practice, nature, nourishment, and community.

We gather along the St. Regis River during Samhain and Halloween, a potent seasonal sandhyā (sacred turning point), or threshold between cycles. As autumn moves toward winter and the abundant harvest gives way to a quieter season, we’ll spend our days immersed in yoga, meditation, movement, deep inner exploration, river and forest time, bonfires, seasonal food, rest, and connection.

Our home for practice is Avalon Retreat Center, a forest oasis with private paths along the river and an intimate octagonal practice space. Together, we’ll explore this sacred transition time as an opportunity to unplug, listen deeply, and reconnect with ourselves, each other, and the living world around us.

Come to be nourished. Come to practice. Come to rest. Come to remember the quiet intelligence of moving with the season.

AVALON RETREAT CENTER

Located along the St. Regis River in Potsdam, New York, Avalon Retreat Center is a forest oasis in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.

Its intimate octagonal home will serve as our primary practice space, surrounded by private forest paths, riverfront land, trees, and the changing colors and textures of late autumn.

Avalon gives us a place to feel close to the elements and to the heartbeat of Mother Earth, not simply as a backdrop for retreat, but as part of the practice itself.

THE RIVERFRONT COTTAGE

The retreat unfolds between two nearby centers of activity.

Our practices and much of our daytime experience will take place at Avalon, while guests will stay together in a sweet riverfront cottage about 20 minutes away from Avalon. We will provide transportation for all practices and excursions.

Both shared and single accommodations will be available.

This is intentionally a small, family-style retreat. We’ll live together, eat together, practice together, and create plenty of room for both connection and solitude.

Breakfast will be available at the cottage each morning, while our other meals and experiences will unfold at Avalon and throughout the surrounding area.

Our intention is to curate the whole experience for you so that once you arrive, you can settle in and let yourself be held by the rhythm of the retreat.

About the Hosts

Devon Sweeney, Drake Unruh, and Morgan Doyle are experienced teachers and practitioners who bring distinct yet complementary approaches to this retreat.

Devon will guide asana, meditation, and practices informed by seasonal and elemental wisdom.

Drake will offer movement, somatic and energy-based practices, with opportunities for deeper inquiry and exploration.

Morgan will guide Yoga Nidra and restorative practices and host our group in Potsdam while supporting the overall rhythm and experience of our time at Avalon.

Together, Devon, Drake, and Morgan will offer a thoughtful and integrated program of practice, reflection, rest, and connection to the natural environment.

OUR FALL HARVEST NOURISHMENT

Our retreat coincides with the peak of the fall harvest, when this land is truly abundant with food.

Small-community living means direct relationships with farmers and growers, making it possible to source much of what we eat close to home. Meals will emphasize organic, local, seasonal ingredients and the particular abundance of autumn.

Our Ayurvedic-inspired menu will center warming, grounding, nourishing foods that support the transition into the cooler months.

Prepare to eat well, gather around the table, and enjoy autumn’s delicacies. Food is part of the retreat experience: an opportunity to nourish the body, connect with the season, and experience the abundance of this land.

For our Denver and Western U.S. friends, we’ll fly into Burlington, Vermont, where transportation will be provided. There are a few flight patterns that give us a good route, but this one is the best direct option for our group. If you choose to fly in elsewhere, you will need to arrange your own transportation to Potsdam.

From Burlington, we’ll make the beautiful drive through the Adirondacks together to our forest, mountain, and river getaway in Potsdam.

Once you arrive, we’ll take care of the logistics. Airport transportation, local transportation throughout the retreat, and transportation for our planned excursions are all included.
